We value equality
DISSS recognises the importance of promoting equality in the workplace. equality is a fundamental human right and a necessary foundation for a peaceful, prosperous, and sustainable world. We are committed to creating an inclusive and diverse work environment where everyone is treated with respect and dignity, regardless of their gender identity or expression.
The objective of this Equality Plan is to identify and address gender-based or other inequalities that exist within DISSS and to promote equality in all aspects of our work. The plan aims to:
Ensure equal opportunities for all individuals, regardless of gender identity, in recruitment, training, and career advancement.
Eliminate discrimination, harassment, and violence in the workplace.
Promote work-life balance and equal participation in decision-making processes.
Foster a culture of respect, inclusivity, and diversity.
Monitor and evaluate progress towards equality goals.
We value child protection
The Dutch Institute for Safe and Secure Spaces (DISSS) is committed to ensuring the safety, protection, and well-being of all children participating in our activities. This Child Protection Policy outlines our commitment to safeguarding children in accordance with Dutch and European Union legislation, establishing clear guidelines and procedures for all staff members, volunteers, contractors, and partners who interact with children during DISSS projects and events.
We value transparency
As a non-profit organisation focusing on creating innovative solutions for various safety and security challenges, we recognise the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in enhancing safety and security measures and in supporting us in our daily work. Meanwhile, we acknowledge our responsibility to implement these technologies thoughtfully and ethically.
We are committed to transparency regarding our AI usage. We understand that AI technologies contribute to increased energy consumption and environmental impact. We also appreciate that the creators of the input these AI systems were trained with, have not always received credit where credit is due. Therefore, we carefully evaluate the necessity and efficiency of AI usage in our work, ensuring that we employ these tools only where they provide substantial value to our objectives.
Our approach to AI is guided by strict ethical principles. We prioritise data privacy, fairness, and accountability in our work. As such, we continuously assess the need for and usage of AI tools to support our work.
We are dedicated to responsible innovation that benefits society whilst minimising negative impact, whether it is environmental, societal or ethical. This includes exploring more sustainable computing options where possible, or simply sticking to more old fashioned ways involving social innovation. Needless to say, a human brain will always remain in charge and fully responsible for our work.
